Nationals expect Strasburg to make next start..

Stephen Strasburg was pulled from Sunday's game after five innings and 90 pitches at Nationals Park because of tightness in his golden right arm. Stephen Strasburg is expected to make his next start. Nationals manager Davey Johnson said, is all he's concerned about. Strasburg was the top pick in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, and the Nationals invested four years, $15.1 million and much of their future in him. (www.mlb.com). The Nationals attracted a lot of attention since he's one of the best young pitchers in baseball. Stephen Strasburg said he was frustrated about coming out of Sunday's game and not throwing at least six innings. The Nationals are concerned about Strasburg, given his injury history and the strict 160-inning limit that has been placed on him for this year. When he reaches that figure, he's apparently done for the season.

Kerry Wood Expected To Retire on Friday After One Last Outing

Kerry Wood, who burst onto the scene with the Cubs in 1998, pitching a 20-strikeout game, apparently wants to appear in one more game, after which he is expected to announce his retirement. There will be no pre-game announcement about Wood's future prior to Friday's game against the White Sox at Wrigley Field.(www.MLB.com)
On Saturday, Wood made it official, formally announcing his retirement in a brief and intimate ceremony at Wrigley Field.Wood's last appearance was Friday when he entered in the eighth inning against the White Sox and struck out Dayan Viciedo on three pitches. i believe Kerry Wood still has good stuff to end his career so early at age 34 with a 92 plus Fastball and with a sick hook. Kerry Wood had a career 86-75 record, 63 saves, 1,582 strikeouts and a 3.67 ERA in 446 Major League appearances, including 178 starts. He averaged 10.32 strikeouts per nine innings, the second-highest total of any pitcher in Major League history behind only Randy Johnson's 10.61 mark.
